Levin c.1900 included; W.B. McINTOSH, coachbuilders, who employed Charles WELBY aged 13 as apprentice painter, Mr W ALLOWAY as coachbuilder, Mr W WILTON journeyman painter, Mr A BROWN blacksmith striker and Mr BILDERBECK as blacksmith.

The Temperance Hotel was owned by Mr Geo WASHINGTON PHIPPS in Oxford Street. Mr B.R. GARDENER had the Manawatu Co-Operative store in 1906: SWAINSON & BEVAN ran a general merchandise store on the corner of Mako Mako Road and Oxford Street, the building having been built in 1904 but was burnt to the ground in 1909: Sydney HALL had a dental practice and WILLIAMS opened a tearooms in Oxford St in 1910.

Mr & Mrs James ROSE and three chldren lived and worked their blacksmith shop in Salisbury Street: A. LEONARD was a saddler and Levins first fire officer: BARTHOLEMEWs had the first sawmill, situated on Roslyn Road, errected 1888 with James & Richard PROUSE setting up theirs in Cabbridge Street arround 1891.

Mr Earnest Stephen THYNNE of Foxton was a partner in THYNNE & LINTON & Co, shipping agents, including the 'Tui'

STEPHENS BROS, Merchants and Commission Agents were on the coach route linking Foxton and Rongotea.

The TANSLEY's ran the Manawatu Hotel at Foxton in the 1870's
