The Low Watts broke onto the Tempe, AZ scene in 1997 after the break up of Tempe's favorite sons,
the Gin Blossoms. Jesse Valenzuela, the Gin Blossoms' former
guitarist became the Low Watts' lead vocalist and guitarist. Also playing guitar in the
origional Low Watts line-up was Scott Johnson, who was also a former Gin Blossoms member. Scott recently left the
band to become a full-time member of The Peacemakers with members of the now defunct Refreshments.
Darryl Icard plays bass in the Low Watts. He's previously played in local band, Major Lingo, and other projects. Jesse and Darryl have been "borrowing"
drummers for the meantime. Phil Rhodes from the Gin Blossoms joins them on a Christmas recording (see News
for details). Currently, Gary Smith of the Pistoleros is joining Jesse and Darryl in the live shows.
