(couldn't resist that title. Sorry, Kerry, I know you wanted this to be a serious thing. *puts on very serious face*)
They held his funeral today. I wasn't ready for it, you know? I didn't exactly feel like admitting he was dead. Hell, he was my partner. A friend. But I went anyway, because I knew Tifa wouldn't shut the *&£$ up until I did. Wasn't a big thang- just Tifa, me and his family. Cloud wasn't there- Tifa and Cloud were divorced by then, of course. It only lasted six months, before that spiky-assed jerk was running around behind her back with other broads. Makes you sick, don't it? I wanted to go round and make him _feel_ sorry for what he'd done. After that, relations between him and me kind of broke down. Broke leg doesn't do wonders for your friendship. Heh. Served him right, though. Never told Tifa that- she'd be on at me like a flash.
Anyway. It was a pretty small thing. I saw the body, and that made me all mad at Shinra again. Because he used to be such a good-looking guy. Yes, I noticed that about him. Why do you care? Just let me tell this my way. Hard enough as it is. So he was a handsome guy. Always liked to share a drink with him after a job, and jobs ain't always what they seem- though maybe this isn't the time to be thinking about that. That was a long time ago.
That caught your attention, didn't it? Nosy little &$!%. He was good at everything he did, not just good in bed. Ah, what did I say? I meant good on the job. Yeah, that's it. A good worker. Just leave me alone, will ya? What d'you mean, were we partners? I've already told you that- oh, you mean- well, who gives a damn now anyway? Yes. We were. There, I've said it, did anyone miss that? I'm &^%!ing gay. Got a problem with that? No? Good.
You want the details? Damn, man, there weren't many. We met through Avalanche, used to always have a few drinks after work. Got to be friends, and one day I just asked him. Straight out, if he'd like to come back to mine. He blushed- yes, Biggs blushed- then he said he'd really like that. No, it wasn't just because he was my employee. How dare you suggest that?
Yes, alright, I need a drink right now. Thanks. He came back to mine. We both knew what was going to happen- _yes_, he was over 18. God, you think I'd have asked him if he wasn't? Jeez. After that it just spiralled. We were going to move into Sector 3- y'know, the better area. Out of the slums- we'd started saving some, after the first missions, so we almost had enough for a townhouse. He was going to be a builder. Said he'd always wanted to try that. I thought I might try that, too. Sure got the muscles for it. This would have been the mission that made the money enough....guess we ain't never gonna do that now. No, I am NOT crying. I got dirt in my eye. Now if you've finished asking questions.....some of us would like to pay our last respects, all right? Don't you 'Mr.Barrett' me, man, I got shoes older'n you. Now outta my way, I wanna say goodbye to my friend.
