Alt stands for an alternate character, many of the players on VirtuaPern play several characters or alternate on which one they use.

This term is for the begineers of a craft, this is the entrance level for those joining a craft. Apprentices have many ristrictions and have to go by certain rules.
Firelizards and dragons have the ability to jump from place to place in the blink
of an eye, through a space of nothing called 'between'. Between is noted as being extremely cold, and often the cause of miscarriages in dragonriders.
This is a mating flight term, when the female first rises to fly she must 'blood' on several animals sucking the blood from them and not eating them.
The smallest of the male dragons, it is best at catching the greens in flights. They are often known as the workhorses or the weyr, and are also known for being good search dragons.
Larger then the blue but smaller then the bronze are the brown dragons. They are male dragons and are known for having a good control on their emotions.
The largest of the male dragons, they are rare. They are known for having take charge personalitys.
A candidate is someone that has been searched to stand on the Hatching Sands at a Weyr, they have a chance of impressing a dragon.
The Pernese version of a dog, they do not use the word dog, for the animal has been bred to be durable on pern.

A craft is any of the many craft oriented establishments on Pern. The PC crafts on VirtuaPern are Healer, Herder, Harper, Smith, and Weaver. Some of the other crafts include Starcraft, Dolphincraft, Bakercraft, and Vintercraft.
The head of a craft, they are in charge of the entire craft and have achieved Master's rank.
The second in command in the craft rank system, they take charge in case of an absence of the Craftmaster.
Descriptions are the visual appearance of any given object be they a person or an egg.

Dragons were a genetic experiment made by Kitty Ping to enlarge the small Dragon like creatures (We now know as firelizards) into a large ridable more intellegent animal. They were found to bond to one person by impresssion, and had all the traits of the firelizards.
The original name given to the Firelizards, this was the name chosen by Sorka but eventually Firelizards became a more common name.
Eggs are the developing embryos of the firelizards and dragons. They need to stay warm and have a leather like shell. Pern also has Chicken and other poultry eggs but they are valued.
This is a term used by players to exsplain that this happened on a diffrent MOO, other then VirtuaPern.
Felines are the pernese cat, the feline is stronger rough, and generally has more hair. Looking slightly more 'wild'.
Fingerroots is the term for carrots on PERN.
Firelizard(Flit, Flitter, FL, Flizzen, Lizzen)
Firelizards are native to the planet PERN, they are the ancestors of dragons. They come in five colors Gold, bronze, brown, blue and green. They have the ability to jump 'between' places, and have a very good memory for pictures or major events. They can flame and eat thread as well.
Flamethrowers are a creation made by the smiths to char thread. They are made very large so that Gold dragons can participate in fighting thread.
Flights are the way that dragons and firelizards mate. The female (Gold or Green) takes air and the males (Bronze, Brown, or Blue) take up after her. The first one to catch the female mates with her.
The largest female color, they are the largest of their species, and in dragons the only color of the species that can lay eggs. They are very rare, and only women can ride the gold dragons, and with that comes huge resposibility.
The smallest of females and the males, greens are known to be moody. Green firelizards can lay eggs but are very careless with their clutches and most of the eggs are lost to tunnel snakes.
These are PC players that have a G next to their name on the WHO. Guides are their for you if you need help with anything.
A hatcher is the person who is running a hatching, they are the person or persons who are puppeting the hatchlings and or eggs and decide who impresses what.
A hatching is when the firelizard or dragon eggs are ready to break free from their eggs. They are hungry and think of nothing else as the leave thier eggs. This is the moment when they may be impressed by a human.
A hatchling is the dragon or firelizard that has just hatched from their egg. Finding a person to impress to and getting food from that person is the number one issue on their mind.
Herdbeasts are the Pernese cattle, they are used for meat and like the rest of the pernese animals, basicly stronger, sturdier, with more hair.
A hold is a place where many people live it is usuly run by a family line. There are small and major holds spread all across pern.
Holdless people are people who have not found a home yet. To remove this title you must join a craft, hold, or weyr.
The person who the firelizard or dragon has bonded with.
Impression is the linkage of minds, with dragons the minds completly melt together. With firelizard the bond is there but to a much less degree then the dragon.
Anything said by the character, not the player. Things that are IC also follow the theme of the game and pern.

Journeyman or Journeywomen is the middle rank in a craft. It is usually achieved after finishing a project of some sort, and after the rank of Senior Apprentice.
Klah is the pernese coffee, it is a tad more spicy and made from the bark of a tree.

A newbie is a new player to MOOing and or VirtuaPern.
Non Player Character is what NPC stands for, this is used for characters that are not played by any of the players, but are people that /are/ there. NPC areas are areas that are not played ICly but /are/ there.
Numbweed is a substance used for healing, it numbs the area applyed. It is the most common remedy on pern.
Out Of Character is something said by the player and not the character.
Ovine is a pernese Sheep, they are used for their wool.
Player Character are the characters that are played actively by a player. A PC area is a place that is ICly played out in the game.
A pernese pig. These are more rarely used for meat so pork is considered a special treat.
Anything your ALT does. i.e. emote, says, ect..
Forcing a pose on another person, or makeing them /have/ to react to something in the way you stated. Such as Goober flys into the green firelizard hitting her square in the head causing her to fall in the water.
When a female firelizard or dragon comes into 'season' and is ready to mate she becomes proddy.
The Red Star is the planet that orbits around Pern, sometimes coming close enough for the horrible thread to come off the planet and reach Pern.
A rider is a person that is the rider of one of Pern's dragons.

Runners are the pernese horses also called RunnerBeasts, they have been adapted to pern life and generally are hardier and have more hair.
Short for Hatching Sands, which are warm sands in a weyr which is where a golden queen clutches and protects her eggs.
Search is what happens after a queen has clutched her eggs, riders go out and look for potential impressees of the dragonets to come.
SearchCO is the group of people that are assigned to decide whom is searched and whom impresses.
A large pose, basicly anything that fills up the screen quickly. Hatchings be they dragon or firelizard are very spammy events.
Spiders claws are a type of food on pern, they are crab like creatures.

Thread is the menace of Pern, it is a substance that rains down from the red star and eats everything that is not Rock, or Metal. Fire and Water are the only thing that destroys it.
Tiny Plot is a pre-planned Role play session(s). It is a plot line of some sorts.
Tiny Sex, is the roleplaying of anything sexually related. It is /never/ mandatory.
Tubers are potatoes on pern.
Turns are the Pernese year.

WatchWhers are an not fully successful attept at making dragons. They look like malformed, ugly dragons. Their wings were stumpy that looked functional, but are not. They are impressable and have the basic mind traits of a dragon. They had wonderful eyesite and were often used as guards.
A Weyr is the place that the Dragon riders live, they are usuly made from a dormant volcano the hatching sands being warmed from the once volcanic action.
