The whole summer of 1973 we drew each other. At one time the electricity was shut off because of low funds and so I'd draw by candlelight.

At this time, my drawing started taking on a new aspect. I was becoming bored with 'straight' pencil sketches and had a longing to express the time aspect of life in the drawings. This image, though it sits in tranquility of posture with a firmness of technical technique holds hints of the 'time line' drawings which were to follow.
