Cadie's are the BEST

NO! Cadillac didn't build the batmobile

I don't know how many times complete strangers have come up to me and said, "Ya know they made the Batmobile out of that car."

I close my eyes and shake my head, thinking, duh.

The Batmobile was NOT made from the 1959 Cadillac. As big a fan as I am of the original Caped Crusaders and that awesome machine that they drove around in (the Batmobile could self-inflate the tires in case of a flat and who didn't love the fire from that center exhaust?), there was no affiliation between the Batmobile and our beloved '59.

Then what was the Batmobile, you ask? Well, it was a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept vehicle. Only several were created and with only light modifications necessary, the studios were able to cheaply provide Batman with about 3 Batmobiles in which he could fight Gotham's bad seeds.

I'll give ya this, though. The Futura did have fins that could be mistaken for those on the 59 Cadillac. But it would have to be raining...and you would have to be looking through a Pepsi bottle...and your hair would have to be in your eyes...and the fog would have to be rolling in...and you would have to be looking the other way. But, they did resemble the Cad's fins a little.
