Sometimes I wonder
Where my soul ends,
And the shadows begin.

I catch my reflection in the mirror
Through the tears in my eyes,
I see the facade which protects me.

Memories scattered over my mind
Like so many broken toys,
Haunting incessantly.

Life has me on my knees
But the world sees me upright,
Except for those who give a damn.

The fatal mistake of the innocent
Never learning how to let go,
Believing I'd never have to start over.

I wake from the bittersweet
Always sleeping in the arms of my past,
Fighting to crawl from the warmth of my bed.

My spirit withers every day
Weakened by a lack of purpose,
I refuse to grant its death wish.

Within, a heart attempts to heal itself
The rhythm remains strong,
Despite the bleeding fragments.

Sometimes I wonder
Where the dying ends,
And the living begins...
