John states he was drafted into the militia from Millerstown (now Woodstown)
Shenandoah County, Virginia in 1781 was a private in Col. Bird's regiment.
John paid one while pole in Sullivan County, Tennessee in 1796 and one white
pole for Grainger County, Tennessee (north of Clinch Mountain to the Clinch
River) in 1799.
The first deed record found pertaining to John was where he and William
Hedrick, both of Sullivan County, sold property on May 9, 1797 to John Musgrave
(Sullivan County book 3, p. 234). The next record of John found was the 1810
Census of Tennessee. John Cabage had living in his household one male under
10, two males between 16-26, one male over 45, one female under 10, two females
10-16, one female 16-26, and one female over 45.
In 1804, John was listed in Grainger County's tax list as owning 100 acres in
Lone Valley. John lived in Grainger County and then moved to Campbell County.
In the 1840 Census, John lived with a Champion Waters in Campbell County,
Tennessee. In 1850, John lived with Joseph and Pheobe Yadon in Grainger County,
Tennessee. John died on January 8, 1852 in Grainger County, Tennessee. Joseph
Yadon was the administrator of the will and it was filed March 12, 1854. The will
states he left no widow and had several children.
All we can do is speculate on John's children. If anyone can find any proof,
please send it.
