.::Chapter Ten::.

"....and I guess we were just kinda getting tired of the same old so we decided to kick back here for the summer," Taylor concluded his reasons for being in Miami. It was night now and we were sitting outside behind my house. I was sprawled out in the hammock while he kept his seat on the sand next to me. The ocean lapped quietly on the shore as we sat watching it. Taylor then turned to me and asked, "So, have you always lived here?" I hesitated, debating whether or not to launch into my life story. Hey, I wasn't going anywhere soon so why the hell not? "No, I moved here a few years ago actually," I gave him a bit of bait to chew on. "Oh really? Where from?" he seemed interested. "Salem, Oregon," I told him. "Oh, ok. Might I ask the reason for the move?" he was very nonchalant. "Yeah, you might. I got adopted," I said. He looked at me, bewildered but stayed quiet. I laughed,"Geez Taylor, you look like you just saw a ghost. Lighten up a little." He smiled,"You like it here though?" "Oh yeah, Miami is a great city," I answered. He nodded and then glanced at his watch. "I'd better head home," Taylor stood up. I edged out of the hammock and stood to face him. I smiled at him,"Night." He kissed me briefly and then turned towards the road. Once out of the driveway, he stopped and waved slightly.

I climbed the back steps to the porch and opened the screen door just as I heard a car pull in the driveway. "Great, they're home," I grumbled to myself. "Hi, Sidney," Mrs. Phillips chirped. I made my way to the stairs, not bothering to look at them as they came in the door. "Hi," I quietly said as I reached the top of the landing. When I disappeared out of their sight, Mr. Phillips wispered something to his wife. "I told you she was unstable from the start."

I shut the door to my room and then turned the TV on. "....the brothers Isaac, Taylor, and Zachary Hanson are currently Mmmboping their way up the Billbaord charts," Kurt Loader's voice caught my ear. I stared it, seemingly asking it to repeat itself. "Here's a video clip from their debut single "Mmmbop", the MTV anchor slowly faded from the screen. In his place, Taylor and his brothers were shown roller blading. I was pretty sure my mouth dropped open but I couldn't be positive. The Taylor I was just sitting outside with was on TV and not only that, he was famous. Who was I dealing with? That moment made me appreciate the saying "Ignorance is bliss".
