Put to rest your undying will to undersatnd the title
"The Feet of Orion"
My story is something I take very serious and I needed to give it a title that would suit it. Last winter, I was on a writer's block one night and I just happened to look out my window. There weren't any clouds in the sky so I could see all the stars very clearly. I saw a really bright star and then I saw one that was kinda faint. I thougth it would cool if the main characters of my story, Taylor and Sidney, had their own stars. Call it corny if you want. So, the bright one became Taylor's star and the fainter one became Sidney's. Later I found out that the stars I had named already belonged to the constellation Orion. So anyway, my best friend suggested that I name it "The Feet of Orion". And here it is, for all to see.
Learn a Lesson from Orion
I'll give you a little history lesson about the constellation of Orion. It is the Hunter constellation, one of the original 48 constellations listed by the Greek astronomer, Ptolemy, in the second century. Something I found rather interesting about this constellation is that in the ancient Egyptian city of Giza (City of The Dead) where The Great Pyramid (built for Ramses the second, if I'm not mistaken) lies, the pyramids for his three queens line up perfectly with Orion's belt. Okay, if you're not thinking of how much of a queer I am at this point in time, consider yourself enlightened.
For those of you unfamiliar with the sky, Orion is that group of 7 stars that are the brightest in the picture above. Those middle three that are in a straight line slanting upwards are Orion's belt (also the bottom of the Big Dipper)and his feet are the brightest stars on the bottom. I've highlighted them all for your viewing convienence.
