Sidney Aida Banks
One of the two main characters who tells the story from a first person point of view. This story mainly revolves around her.

Mr. and Mrs. Phillips
Adoptive parents of Sidney. Are putting up with the 'parenting crap' for an image rather than it's true purpose.
Jordan Taylor Hanson

Clarke Isaac Hanson

Nick MacKalvey
Dangerously controlling 'boyfriend' who refuses to give up control of Sidney. Has an awful temper that is easy to stirr up. Is a drug user, carries weapons, and is involved in gangs.
-Age: 16 throughout his role in the story.
MacKalvey's Gang
Consisting of Nick himself and Miranda (another 'playmate' of his), Marc, Renee, Barry, Trey, Kerrie, Paul, Sandra, Josh. All street kids, who raised themselves and the only authority they recognize is Nick's.
Jason Bradley Banks
Franternal twin brother of Sidney, and for the most part, is in the same situation as her when it comes to family. He is used to a 'hard' life, but thinks nothing of it.
-Age: 14 in the beginning, 16 in the end.
Lydia Banks
Biological mother of Sidney and Jason. Still residing in their birthplace of Salem, Oregon. Is not, and has never been, financially stable- not to mention mentally stable.
-Age: 32 throughout her role in the story
