Peers

A push and a shove forces her down
She quickly gets up not making a sound
They laugh around her as she hides her face
A mistake they call her, a big disgrace
She trudges down the crowded hall
They have made her feel so very small

In her classes she remains apart
From others who hurt her and stab at her heart
Harsh words that sting like a slap in the face
Words filled with anger and full of hate
Pain grips her as laughter rings in her ears
Her vision blurs fighting back the tears

At lunch she stares down at her plate
What has she done to deserve such hate?
She wants to leave, but is forced to stay
Anxiously she waits for the end of the day
To get away from the source of pain
Each day is not different its always the same

At home she sits and lets herself cry
Heart-wrenching sobs, just wanting to die
No one knows what hurt she feels
No one sees that she cannot deal
The pain is too great for her to take
The cruel words cause her heart to break

She is nothing, not worthy of their time
Thats what they say, not worth a dime
She feels so dejected, her head hangs low
There is nowhere for her to go
There is nothing left for her here
The best thing to do is disappear.

Alone in her house, she sees a knife
Her only way out is to take her own life
She cannot bear another day
Nothing now can make her stay
No one will miss her or even care
So she kneels down for one last prayer.

God, help me find a place to belong
Help me find a place to be strong.
They treat me like I am their enemy
I ask you now to deliver me
God, help me be free from this strife
And with those final words she ended her life.
