Lawry Love is a renowned South Australian artist who travels throughout Australia and paints images from his experiences. There is more to Lawry Loves paintings than meets the eye, but this is not evident right away. Sometimes he feels that someone else is holding the brush and moving his hand.
He has had many joint and solo exhibitions over the past years. Lawry uses strong colour usually using acrylic which allows him to get his ideas down quickly. He does not complicate images, he likes his message to be clear and clean. Lawry paints in different styles from abstact to realism. A prolific painter with no painting ever the same.

Hi I am 10 years old and I am doing an assignment about early settlement in australia. I had to choose a song and painting. I chose the song Solid Rock by Goanna and your painting "Colonisation" . I wanted to chose something that looked at the impact that early settlement in australia had on the Aboriginal people. I was wondering if you could give me some more information about your painting "Colonisation" (2001) like what it means, your inspiration, the medium and why you did this picture. If you could help me out that would be good.
Thankyou Ayden Shepherd
