Eternal Warriors

These warriors stand at ready to gaurd the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. They have remained at their post since nearly 206 BCE. These artifacts shows a same part of the universal thread that ties all of us together, death and the life there after. Like Egpytian, Qin Shi Huang tried to secure his safety in the afterlife. But unlike Egyptians, he seemed to have wanted inviduals to protect him. Each statue seem to have a life of their own, features, clothing, and hair all seems to be indivualized. I think this speaks a great deal about the chinese people, who respect all things as part of one and the same cycle, but who also believe that each indivual plays a roll within it.
