The War Propaganda Bureau
The War Propaganda Bureau (WPB) was an agency set up by the British government in 1914. After learning that Germany had a similar program, the British leaders decided it was necessary. In September of 1914 the government invited 25 leading British authors to become part of the WPB. It later came to include artists and photographers as well. Charles Masterman was chosen to lead the organization. Over the course of the war the WPB produced approximately 1160 pamphlets along with hundreds of paintings about the war.
