What is WiredTeens?

WiredTeens is a members-only online community for teens, which is, in turn part of WiredPatrol. WiredKids is the North American Site of UNESCO's Innocence in Danger Program. Its goal is to educate parents, teachers, teenagers, and children about the dangers online and to help them enjoy a safe, educational, and fun Internet. WiredTeens specifically works to encourage safe and responsible surfing, giving teens a voice to express their opinions on current issues dealing not only with the Internet but our world as a whole. WiredTeens is designed to serve as a forum for creative expression through message boards, chatrooms, online articles, voting booths, and whatever you want to add. To join WiredTeens, click here. Membership will allow you to submit articles, take online safety classes, post messages, and enjoy full user benefits. This website has been made by teens for teens and we hope that you enjoy it and stay!

What is Teenangels?

The Teenangels are specially-trained teen volunteers, which work off-line with WiredPatrol. Teenangels is run by the Teenangels Teen Board and Parry Aftab. The Teenangels are trained by the FBI, State Police Cybercrime Task Force, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Net Nanny, PeaceFire, the FTC & others, as well as Parry Aftab herself.

We helped Parry write the Internet safety tips for her book, The Parent's Guide to Protecting Your Children in Cyberspace (McGraw-Hill, 2000). Read what we have to say about being Teenangels. The Teenangels have visited the White House, have been on the floor of Congress, briefed members of Congress on Internet safety, and taught Internet safety and privacy to other students and parents. We are now working on our own video teaching online safety to other teens and children.

below this box, at the bottom of the page, is the normal "Wired Safety, Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, Webmaster, etc..." For the Link to Us page, I was thinking of offering icons of the Teenangel with different colors, playing around in graphics programs, making it look interesting. Oh, and at the top, above the menu, there would be our icon, of course.
