Victoria Slone, the founder of "ADORN," is an accomplished jewelry artisan who has had extensive training and education in the field . The business name, "ADORN" was chosen as a result of the products and artwork Victoria creates. Her jewelry has a simple, elegant beauty using vast varieties of materials and designs that give the wearer an undeniable sense of charisma. Victoria worked for the World Bead Company during which time she gained experience in jewelry repair, assembly technique, and knowledge for a wide spectrum of beads. Upon moving to Chicago nine years ago, she was exposed to social and cultural designs while working at the Art Institute of Chicago and gained additional experience taking classes at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In addition to maintaining her own website, Victoria participates in many shows throughout the country and is featured in numerous galleries and shops throughout Chicago and beyond. Victoria's most recent accomplishments have been being featured on two segments for HGTV shows, "Crafters Coast to Coast" and "That's Clever," creating and organizing the Fall Annual Rockwell Crossing Artwalk in Chicago and "Create" An Arts & Crafts affair. She also hosts a bi-annual event, "ADORN; Open Studio" for her clientel, which is an exhibit including her new works, products and designs. Some of the designs that set Victoria apart is her use of wire wrapping skills, postage stamps from around the world and her chinese brush painting skills.
Her sister company, the kitschy "Lotions and Potions," is a body care line that is handmade and vegan. It was inspired by her journey of trying to find the "perfect" body care products. Being militantly opposed to the use of such nasties as mineral oil, artificial colors and fragrances, this has led Victoria on a lifelong search for the ever elusive Holy Grails of natural skincare. Victoria who was taught by internationally renowned aromatherapist, Francoise Rapp, is well versed on the subjects of herbalism, aromatherapy and homeopathy. She is a firm believer in the fact that whatever you put on your skin gets absorbed into your body. "Lotions and Potions" products are organic, handmade in small batches to insure quality and filled with naturally nourishing essential elements. Only the purest combinations of fruits, flowers, herbs, oils and vegetables are used. It is featured in stores nationwide and also at B52's, Kate Pierson's, Some of Victoria's other work such as her purses and stationery, are works that she has picked up along the way. Taking Chinese Brushpainting classes at the School of the Art Institute as well as being self-taught in sewing, she continually finds other outlets to expand her horizons. "The dignity of the artist lies in her duty of keeping awake the sense of wonder in the world. In this long vigil she often has to vary her methods of stimulation; but in this long vigil she is also herself striving against a continual tendency to sleep." -Marc Chagall
