Poetry

Love is the poetry of the senses. --Honoré de Balzac

Octavio Paz said once that "a poem is a way of access to pure time, immersion in the original waters of existence.  Poetry is nothing but time, perpetually creating rythm." (El Arco y la Lira, 1967).  Enigmatic vision, but full of power and longing, reaching for the primeval forces of being.  I believe it is such a dimension the one that we reach to when we create poetry, shaping those forces with our own particular sensibility and craft.

We take what is original, in its "isness" and make it into something  we can relate to more directly as we try to preserve such "isness".  We also try to keep through our craft all the intimacy we felt in every particular encounter we have with such forces.  In the end, we must say, again with Octavio Paz, that "a poem is not a literary form, but the place of encounter of poetry and man".

In the spirit and perspective expressed above, the poetry included in this section has been chosen because they reflect my aesthetical sensibility and intellectual insight in particularly meaningful periods of my life.  The poems speak of many different things, trying to show the richness (however great or small) of my artistic world, which I would like to share with you, my friends.
