Henri Rousseau
1844 - 1910

Rousseau was a French man who began as a self-taught Sunday painter, deciding later in life (around the age of 40) that it would be his career. His artworks however only really began to sell after his death in 1910.

He is best known for his Jungle artworks, which are what we will look at most on this website. He also painted still life,  individual or group portraits, historical scenes as well as paintings of farm animals.

On this website you will find information about Henri Rousseau and his life as an artist. You will find a number of pictures of his artworks, mostly focusing on his Jungle artworks. After you have learnt about Rousseau, there are some activities you can complete and play with.
