A little history on Steve - male Boxer Dog and Mojo Pit bull mixed female dog shared by their mom.

Steve

Steve was rescued by us from the Escondido Humane Society in California when he was 2 1/2 years. He had been abused and has many scars both emotional and physical which will be with him for life. He had a great fear of being deserted and alone. We couldn't even walk him without him turning around and watching us the entire time. He was convinced that if anyone raised a voice to him then a beating would follow, so he'd roll over and get sick to his stomach. He's had two major operations on both his back legs for a muscle disease and doesn't move quite as quickly as he used to. However, the story does have a happy ending. He is almost 9 years old now, and has learned to really love and trust people again. He realizes that raising a voice doesn't mean a beating (of course, now he just ignores us :-). He is very loyal and very affectionate, never seeming to get enough hugs. He has a good life in a large house and nice yard. He has two indoor beds and is mostly in the house when we're home. He gets his daily walks and has friends throughout the neighborhood. Steve is very happy these days.

Mojo

Mojo was rescued by us from the Carlsbad Animal Shelter in California. They told us she was a 2-year old boxer, but our vet confirmed she was really only about 1-years old and 1/2 boxer, 1/2 pitbull.
Mojo had been a stray when picked up and in horrible shape. She had severe bite wounds and scars throughout her body, and was so weak, she could barely walk. If you pet her, her hair would just fall off in your hands. She was days away from being put down. It took her a while to become used to simple things such as houses, leashes, stairs, and even dog food. She feared being touched and would shy away. However, she too has a happy ending. Within a year she became one of the most affectionate, loving dogs I had ever seen. She is always by oursides and we call her the happy dog because she always seems to be in the best of moods. She is high energy and always wagging that tail of hers. She is rarely seen without a toy or a bone in her mouth. She is now about 7 years old and still acts like a puppy. She is best friends with Steve. As far as being touched these days, she can't get enough of it and loves every person she meets. Our two dogs have more friends in the neighborhood than we do. They both have become very spoiled and pampered dogs!.
Thank You to Steve & Mojo's mom for sharing this wondeful adoption history with Timeless Memories Art web pages.
