Or, for those more experienced, we teach more involved subjects such as horse first aid, training techniques, and how to read equine behavior. Scavenger hunt, paint your horse, trail rides, roping, crafts, games, and more. Riders may take a jumping lesson, dressage, Western gaming, and more. Please see web site for details. Ages 5-14, $75/day, 8:00am– 5:00pm
A day at camp is spent learning about horses from field professionals, working hard to become better riders, and laughing with fellow campers. Nights are spent around a large river rock firepit, with a crackling fire. Here stories of horses abound, goals are set, and a magical feeling surrounds us all. What happens at Chastain Mist is indeed difficult to describe. But it must be wonderful, for campers who choose Chastain Mist once, often choose Chastain Mist every time thereafter.
The success of CM is due in large part to the diligence and hard work that is put forth months before camp begins. Campers are presented with a Campus that meets rigid health and safety standards, adult Counselors that are trained in all procedures and with a true desire to ensure Chastain Mist lives up to each camper's expectation, and an adaptable curriculum that challenges every level of rider. We are confident that Chastain Mist is THE camp for any girl who loves horses and wants to become a better equestrian.
The complete details for this camp are at www.chastainmist.com. To learn about subjects covered and to view a sample day, please click on "What is a day like at Chastain Mist"
Participants attend once a week for 2 hours, or if your schedule is tight we can reduce it to 1.5 hours. Ages 4-16, beginners to advanced welcome. The 2 hours is split into two parts. One part is a traditional riding lesson in English or Western riding, where riders learn how to control their horses and may advance into more difficult lessons such as collection, cantering, jumping, etc. During the other half of the lesson, each participant receives a complete horse care/ safety course for beginners OR a more advanced hands on training course for intermediate - experienced riders. Program includes Trail rides, Polocrosse, Obstacle Courses, Bareback Riding, Barrel Racing, and more. Each lesson is customized to the rider's ability and goals. This program is goal oriented and teaches necessary skills to set and obtain goals through visualization and positive self talk.

All Fall and Winter Day Camps vary slightly, and campers who attend more than one will not repeat the same lessons in horsemanship. Camps are organized in such a way that allows repeat campers to progress through the levels. Campers can only attend on the days that they are out of school.
