    2010 SUMMER CAMPS/ DAY

Day Camps come in all shapes and sizes. Open to boys and girls, ages 5 and up. Day camps at Chastain Mist are a blast! Each day is packed with horse fun for complete beginners to advanced teen riders. As always we teach safety first. Then we move on to exciting things like painting horses, riding bareback, playing polo, and trail riding. You can also rope a pink steer, catch a sneaky pony, have a scavenger hunt, swim, play volleyball, take hikes, sing songs around the camp fire, and so much more! We cover the basics, too: Learn to lead, tie, groom, tack up, mount, steer, go, & whoa. As campers progress, so will the lesson material. Riders are given an aptitude test so that they don't have to cover material they already know. Early drop off, late pick up always available if pre-arranged. Day camp is offered M-F, July 1-Aug. 15th, unless there is interest in attending the last weeks of Aug, in which case, we can add on weeks. SUMMER CAMPS/OVERNIGHT

Click anywhere to be taken to main overnight page. Campers have the option of staying 1-6 weeks. If you have been searching for an overnight horse camp, you have just found "The One". You will be immersed in the world of horses from the moment you step foot into the storybook setting that is Chastain Mist. Golden Palominoes with flowing white manes, glistening Copper Penny Chestnuts that prance up to see if you brought a treat, and our newest addition, the Friesian Stallion, DOLCE....there are 56 horses in all, most of which are show horses who know the ropes and love to teach! Large rolling pastures, a jump field, a dressage ring, bridle trails....it's a horse lover's dream.

A day at camp is spent learning about horses from field professionals, working hard to become better riders, and laughing with fellow campers. Nights are spent around a large river rock firepit, with a crackling fire. Here stories of horses abound, goals are set, and a magical feeling surrounds us all. What happens at Chastain Mist is indeed difficult to describe. But it must be wonderful, for campers who choose Chastain Mist once, often choose Chastain Mist every time thereafter.
