CASSETTE DECKS:
We no longer  repair any of the cassette decks made by Nakamichi.  Years of wear have added  complications to the repair and over haul of these units. We no longer consider these to be viable long term repair items.

RECEIVERS:
All models of the Nakamichi receiver line are repairable and are common repair items.. The most common problems are related to power supply failure and solder connections that have broken down through years of heating and cooling. Complete resoldering of the printed circuit boards, along with cleaning of all switches and controls usually restores these units to original operating condition.  At times the output transistors are found to be shorted or the speaker relay burnt out; we stock replacement parts for these items. Average repair cost is 175.00 to 275.00, depending on model and extent of service required


AMPLIFIERS:
The PA-5 and PA-7 are both of excellent circuit design. They were designed by Nelson Pass using the STASIS circuit topology later made famous in the Threshold product line. Production compromises were the downfall of these products. Electrolytic caps were of inferior quality and dried up and poor quality adjustment pots causing bias and dc offset issues. We have a standard upgrade / overhaul package for these models. We replace all electrolytic caps with upgrade parts, retrofit precision 10 turn adjustment pots and add additional power supply bypass and audio filter caps.  After a circuit mod, we rebias the amps to proper bias setting, resulting in much greater clarity and detail, without sacrificing circuit stability. As part of this service we resolder the amp driver board completely, and replace any overheated transistors. The cost of this service is 275.00 for either model. If additional problems are found an estimate will be provided before any service work is done.
We have overhauled many of these during the years and our customers have been very pleased with the results.
