LEAK Repair service

We repair all of the amplifiers and preamps that were made by H.J.Leak & Co, Ltd.. The Leak power amps are among our favorite audio repair items. They have a tonal balance and sound that is among the most pleasing and musical of any audio equipment ever made. Teamed with almost any reasonably efficient speaker they provide a truly remarkable listening experience.
The most common problems with these units are capacitor aging, ceramic resistor failure, and unfortunately, less than competent repair attempts. We usually approach these as repair / restoration items rather than simply patch up the most evident problems, We replace the ceramic resistors and filter caps in a way that is not visible from the top of the chassis so as to not ruin the visual appeal of the amp. We replace the coupling caps with our premium caps chosen to match the sound quality of the original design. With some resistor replacement, upgraded RCA jacks and speaker terminals, we really believe we bring out the full potential of these units.

The usual full upgrade/repair/restoration is $350.00 parts and labor on the following models:

All prices are plus tubes if required.

The only preamp we usually rebuild is the Point 1, the Varislope 1 and 2 do not provide nearly the same performance as the power amps and are more of a collector/curiosity piece than top grade audio product.

We do not have any simple way to convert 230V models into 120V ,but we can replace the power transformer with a 125V unit.
We are equipped to repair all 230V models in our shop.
