Dr.Z AMP REPAIR |
|
We have been seeing these amps in for repair more often as of late, for filter cap replacement and the usual pot cleaning, etc. Since these began production in the early 90's this is not overly suprising. Hand wired with fairly good parts, they deliver sound that really is quite a bit more than the apparent sum of parts used in the amp. Some fairly unique circuits and tube combinations yield a distinctive tone and touch response. These amps use carbon film resistors which can be a bit noisy when hot. I redid a Route 66 with Dale Mil-Spec resistors and it turned out quite well, much quieter without any harshness to the tone. These pages last modified 02/23/2011 |
