AUDIO RESEARCH REPAIR INFORMATION

We repair, upgrade and modify all  preamplifiers, line stages and power amplifiers made by Audio Research, including the tube, solid state and hybrid lines. As there are too many models to list It is best if you contact us with your specific repair request, but here is some general information:

Power amps (Tube):
Most of the older production of these amps (most of the D , V and Classic series) will need a lot of resoldering, resistor replacement, replacement of coupling and filter caps and upgrades in the power supply. These units respond well to careful capacitor selection, so we usually check with the customer as to other components in the system and individual sound preferences.
The newer series of tube power amps ( REF, and VT) are usually normal service items, needing only replacement of any defective parts and readjustments of the regulated voltage and bias supplies. As above, capacitor and power supply  upgrade mods are available,  please inquire.

Preamps (Tube, hybrid)
The older SP and LS  series will usually need a complete rebuild, replacing  resistors and caps, along with resoldering of the PC boards and cleaning of all controls and switches. A variety of upgrades are available, please inquire about your specific model.
Newer SP and LS series can usually be considered repair items although some models respond very well to major cap, power supply and resistor upgrades.

We repair many  Audio Research products and are familiar with the rather complex regulated supply and amplification circuits that are used in these units.
Please contact us with your specific request before sending your unit in for service.

We also offer voltage conversion on many models.

For many years we advised that only SED " Winged =C=" 6550C's be used in ARC amps, but supply and quality issues have cropped up in the past year. We now advise the excellent JJ/Tesla KT88 or the Tung-Sol KT120 be used in these amps.
