ADCOM REPAIR INFORMATION
We repair
most ADCOM products. Some specific items
are listed below:
GFP-555:
Upgrade package including Burr-Brown OpAmps, Muse caps and HEXFRED power supply 275.00
GFP 750:
HEXFRED power supply, cap upgrade 300.00
(Note: improves ACTIVE sound quality, no effect if used in passive mode.
GTP- 400/500 preamp tuner; GFT- 555 tuner
Common problem of intermittent FM . Corrected by upgrade of adjustment trimmer cap in fm front end module. Includes cleaning of switches and controls, resoldering of PCB. Cost 145.00, 125.00 for tuner only (GFT)
GFA- 555 / GFA- 555 MKII:
Common problems of channel loss, popping or static noise, overheating ,poor sound quality. Caused by overheating of components on driver board. We replace all transistors with original parts, upgrade all electrolytic caps, replace original mica bypass caps with silver-mica high temp caps, rebias and upgrade rca jacks (555). Cost 185.00
GFA- 565 Monoblock:
These units develop a DC offset problem that leads to a loud turn on thump and eventually will burn out a speaker or lead to major failure of the output transistors. The cause is poor quality electrolytic caps on the driver board that leak onto the board and cause corrosion. We clean off the board, replace all caps and resistors , replace the driver transistors and adjust the bias. Cost 185.00 If major repairs are needed an estimate will be provided.
GFA- 5200 / 5800
Common problem of static and signal dropout. Caused by bad contact of push on connectors on input board. Corrected by hardwiring to board. We also adjust the amp bias. Cost 150.00
GFA- 5802:
As factory adjusted amp never reaches full sonic potential. We rebias the amp to a near Class A condition while still retaining temperature stability. Much improved sound quality, smooth and detailed at low volume levels without losing top end power. ADCOM set these amps underbiased to keep heat level down, but lost the full sound potential. If rebias only the cost is 98.00.
A full upgrade is also offered, with upgraded caps and Hexfred rectifiers and rebiasing. The cost is 275.00
