We repair all NAD products.  Most  NAD receivers, amplifiers, preamps and integrated  amplifiers are well designed but have poor quality capacitors and preamp IC's and have developed soldering defects over time due to rather thin circuit boards and poor quality soldering. Perhaps 90% of NAD problems are cured by resoldering, cleaning of switches and controls and replacement of speaker relays.  Basic repair prices usually  range from  $125.00 to 200.00 depending on model.

There are a few specific models and series that we have specific repair / upgrade choices for:

POWER AMPS:

2200, 2600, 2700 THX:
Basically the same unit,  these share a common problem of intermittent audio. Especially noticed at low volume, "punches through" as volume is increased. Caused by burnt relay contacts. We upgrade the relays, upgrade the input caps, buffer IC's and modify the power circuit  to give a smoother sound with better bass dynamics.
Cost of this repair/upgrade  is 175.00.


214 :
 Noisy, loses channels
Poor quality soldering plus push-on PCB connectors that become noisy. Basic repair is 125.00

216THX:
Noise channel loss, shuts down
Push on connectors cause problems, output transistors break away from PCB. Speaker relay burns out
Repair is 175.00, includes speaker relay upgrade.

218THX:
As above, same basic service as 216. Price 185.00

All three of the above amps (214,216,218) were designed with a undersized filter bank resulting in thin bass when the amp is pushed. This can be improved by upgrading the power supply filters. The cost is 175.00 and includes some minor circuit mods and small cap upgrades.

ALL RECEIVERS AND AMPLIFIERS:
NAD used some rather poor quality  caps in most of the product line. These can be upgraded to higher quality caps for an additional 50.00  when repaired depending on model and will increase the sound quality quite a bit.  Please contact us for specific details

All "PE" Series products:
This line was designed with a variable power supply, with the idea of conserving energy. (The British have an bug about this, left over from WWII rationing)  At your option we can eliminate this feature and increase sound quality and bass extension. This can be done at no additional charge with a repair, please inquire.


1600, 1300, 1700 Tuner/Preamp upgrade package:

Very popular units, often sold as a package with a 2000xx series power amp. These use a number of coupling caps of rather poor quality along with less than satisfactory Integrated circuits.
We have a upgrade package for these involving replacing all coupling and audio bypass caps with premium "muse" and Wima caps, upgrading the power supply to Hexfred and replacing the IC's with Burr-Brown Audio Select OP amps. Very good results as these were well designed units, lacking only better components to bring out their full potential. Cost of full upgrade 350.00 and includes all regular basic service.

T-761,762; entire "T" series
Poor quality products beset with many, many problems. We do not accept these for repair, advise replacement.
