McIntosh Repair service

We repair, update and modify both tube and solid state McIntosh equipment. If you have any questions please contact us before sending your unit in for repair. Some specific items are listed below, but we service nearly all McIntosh products

TUBE AMPS:

MC 30, MC 40, A-116, MC 60:

We replace all defective resistors with metal-oxide power types, replace all coupling caps with standard polypropylene, clean tube sockets and at your option upgrade the RCA jacks and / or bypass the level control. Any filter caps are replaced without altering the original appearance of the unit. The cost of this service is 225.00, with premium cap options $50-175.00

MC-225 , MC 240:
As above, plus upgrade of power rectifiers. Cost of service is 275.00, with upgrade cap option 375.00

MC-275 (original)
Same cost and options as 225, 240

MC 275, MC 275 GOW (reissue)
Poor quality coupling caps degrade sound, undervalue screen resistors cause channel failure.
We upgrade caps to premium, use non-inductive screen resistors and upgrade the power rectifiers to fast recovery types. no further upgrade will result in improvement except for tube brand choices.
Cost of this service is 250.00

TUBE PREAMPS:

C-22:
We usually replace all carbon resistors in B+ feed and replace all coupling caps. We clean all tube sockets , controls and switches. Basic cost 250.00, premium cap option 65.00, other options are available.
C-22 (reissue)
Upgrade caps to premium, fast recovery power supply, additional filtering and bypassing.
Cost 375.00

SOLID STATE AMPS, PREAMPS
We repair all McIntosh solid state amps and include replacement of any defective or off-value components in the repair. Except for better capacitors and opamps there is usually no advantage in extensive upgrades to these products.
