Ron's Recumbents

I'd been interested in recumbent bicycles for more than twenty years before I decided to make one. The trigger was the acquistion of an acetylin welding outfit.

My earliest machines were designed purely by looking at bicycle parts and imagining how they could be reconfigured to produce recumbents. I didn't know that the world was filled with bike making hobbyists who'd recorded their efforts on the internet. Once I discovered bike websites, I observed the ideas of others and began to incorporate their often clever concepts into my work.

All of my machines are made from recycled (i.e. scavenged) parts. Occasionally, I needed to purchase cables of appropriate length, chains, tires, conduit or fence posts, etc. No bike cost more than $50.00!

The above pictured trike, dubbed The Hastings, was my first trike.
