"The Monarch and the Siberian"

This painting, a 20" x 16" oil on gessoboard was completed June 1, 2007. Several years ago I photographed a Monarch Butterfly as it flitted around some Purple Cone Flowers and some Siberian Iris. After some years the subject has made it to a composition! The painting is in the collection of Jan Hunt, of Pittsfield, MA.
