Riverdale Park

Riverdale Park

Families have been enjoying this expansive park for over a century.

In the early 1900’s people thronged the “Eastern Public Park,” as it was known in those days, to swim, skate, fish, boat and even bobsled down the hill.

In the early 1960’s the Don Valley Parkway was constructed and the park size was reduced by about 60 acres. To make up for the loss, the city promised to enhance the park with a $1.25 million dollar investment in recreational facilities.

Today Riverdale Park features soccer, baseball and football fields, a swimming pool, a running track and plenty of green space to run around in.

However, Riverdale Park is probably best known for its clear, unobstructed view of the Toronto cityscape.

The park provides a lush green foreground that sets off the bustle of the Don Valley Parkway, the tall buildings and the CN Tower.

Pack a picnic and a frisbee and jaunt down to Riverdale Park to enjoy one of the most beautiful Parks in Toronto.
