Danforth by the Valley
Danforth Avenue is known throughout
Toronto as one of the trendy spots in town.
The corner of Broadview and Danforth marks the beginning of this
strip of funky restaurants, shops and sights.
Danforth is also one of the oldest streets in the city. However,
it wasn't a major route until the Prince Edward Viaduct was built
across the Don River, thus establishing a connection between the
city of Toronto and the small villages on the other side.
East Toronto then flourished and grew into the potluck of shopping
and cafés that it is today.
Some of the points of interest in this area include:
1. The Playter Society Building
2. The Prince Edward Viaduct
3. Prince Edward Public Washrooms
4. William Peyton Hubbard’s
