With Morning Comes Hope

This is the first quilted wallhanging I ever made, it won the Viewer's Choice prize at the Annual Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania Quilt Show.

The challenge was to use the following in the quilt
yellow
blue
applique
basket

I am a crazy quilter, not a regular quilter. So when I heard basket, I thought of picnic basket. I had a small crewel kit of a cottage that I did about 4 years ago. I had wanted to use it for something, but could never figure out what.

The tree, swan, pussy willows, and the line of pine trees in the distance (under the blue birds) are punchneedled. The birds and the flowers along the bottom are fused with pellon ultralite iron on there are Mokuba silk ribbon flowers that I made and added among the flowers.

Here is the best picture I could get of it, after it was quilted- I wanted to make sure the quilting in the sky was shown.
