We are from Kerala, a beautiful evergreen state in India. There are so many rivers and lakes in our state. Kerala is very different from the rest of India. Surrounded by mountains on one side and sea on the other, it is one of the best places to live. Our town is a very small one, called Kottayam. My father, Dr. P.T.Thomas is a surgeon, and my mom, Dr.Graceamma Thomas is an Anaesthesist.
I was born on Septemeber 21, 1976 (I am a Virgo-Libra cusp :-))
I did my schooling in Girideepam Bethany High School, walkable distance from our house. Then I went to CMS college, the oldest college (I think) (200 years old maybe) in Kerala. It was a huge change from school (upto 10th grade) to college (basically 11 and 12- we call it Pre-Degree); there was so much politics and strikes in college, but the professors were excellent. Since I was a Biology student, Maths was not in the curriculum. Neverthless I studied Maths all by myself (actually to clear Pre-Degree u just need to study half the normal syllabus :-), so I never studied the full thing - I am bit lazy :-)) With all that laziness, I was lucky (really) to get into Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, and completed my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (in IIT, Electrical means everything from "Electrical" to Electronics, controls, power, communications, and computer engineering :-) Those four years were among the best in my life :-) I accepted the schol from University of Washington, Seattle and did Masters from there. I did summer internship in Siemens ultrasound, and graduated from UW in Spring 2000. I joined Sharp Research Laboratories at Vancouver, WA, and had been there till now :-) I work in Image and Video Coding, Signal Processing, Compression etc.
