The Tender Art of Reborning...
Here I will share with you some of the techniques
and procedures that make a Debbie's Babies baby seemingly come alive...All of the babies from the nursery start out with a special bath to prepare the soft "skin" for colour washing. Only the best quality paints and supplies are used, and employing a unique technique in colour layering achieves a wonderful translucent skin tone. Drawing on many years of doll collecting and restoration as well as a background in art many, many hours have been spent developing and testing a procedure that makes for a truly life-like quality. All the baby wrinkles are brought to 'life' in this process. Debbie's Babies are meant to be as realistic as possible and therefore, they are never a "uniform" colour. Real babies are usually blotchy and uneven in skin tone and Debbie's Babies are made to resemble this "newborn" look as closely as possible. Special care is taken to make the babies never look 'bruised', just that healthy, warm glowing colour you expect with a newborn baby. Many enhancements are made to further bring a Debbie's Babies baby to "life". Hair is applied, either rooted by hand or a wig is used. Eyelashes are applied and toes and fingers get a clean, neat manicure for a freshly trimmed look. Sometimes the eye colour is changed to match the personality and colouring of the "child". Nostrils are opened to allow the baby to breathe. A new high quality cloth body is sewn and used to replace the existing vinyl body of the "baby" allowing for excellent cuddles. Lastly, a new, specially selected outfit is put on each Debbie's Babies baby to give him/her their own unique look and personality. Accessories (different with each baby) will also come with that special baby such as: modified pacifier/heating pak/toy/receiving blanket/identity bracelet/extra change of clothes etc. Finally, your new baby will also come home with a Certificate of Birth/Authenticity with all the particulars on it.
