World travel:

Here my experience in air transport:

Long hours in a plane where the crew are far more interesting in providing alcoholic drinks to male passengers than in assisting a mother like me who needs to warm some milk for one her young child's bottle.

However, in all fairness, I must say that I once met a young male crew who was more helpful and showed where to go and heat the milk myself!

Yes, yes, that has happened to me on board a 767-300 GRU-SCL and vice-versa, and from LHR to GRU. Yes, you guessed it.

Why would one choose such an airline to do such a long flight more than once? The answer is rather stupid really: sentimental reasons! The hope of finding some friendly familiar faces who I had met in the past. Unfortunately, seems that they all took early retirement, left in search of better jobs or were simply flying different skies at the time.

Also, one should have remembered not to do such journeys in July.

Why? Well, that my dears, I am not telling you. The answer is with he who knows!!

Some of the planes seem to be quite old, by the way. Ten years ago they were already having big difficulties in keeping their doors safely closed. I really pitied the poor bloke who had to get off the plane quite a few times over a period which seemed to be forever, until he was satisfied that no one would fall off while flying over the Andes. Imagine how happy passengers must have been spending all that time in the plane not getting anywhere!!!!

What I would have done is let everyone out to stretch their legs and allow the crew to go for one last soft drink in the company of a pretty girlfriend!!

Regarding a different occassion, my thanks to the pilot and co-pilot who very kindly let me into the cockpit to take a couple of pictures. None of them good enough to go into the Airliners.net web site, but decent enough for me to have a nice memento.

One of the two gentlemen looked just like Robert Redford before he had that very bad plastic surgery and the other one had very short hair and big black eyes, quite a friendly smile.

Air France has been a disappointment for me, too. When going in a short flight to Paris, the crew started the flight already tired and it appeared to be a very unpleasant task to deliver the minimum portion of orange juice and peanuts to passengers who were rather squashed in this tiny plane. By the way, if I buy a ticket from AirFrance, I expect the livery on the plane to say "AirFrance" and not any other unknown air company.
