She was so sad

She was so sad, for such a long time she had imagine their long waited reunion. He would smile at her with the same smile he had given her so many times before.

Probably, a big long hug and a kiss.

They would go for a coffee perhaps, or to a park where nobody would disturb them. There would be so much to say to each other.

There would be excitement and happiness in their voices.

But she was so sad. Her heart was breaking with disappointment.

How foolish of her.

Despite having lived without him for so many years, she had kept him in her heart. She had thought of him when the happiest events had happened and even some sad ones had occurred.

Sometimes, she would just talk to him in her imagination and she even used to say to herself that as soon as he replied to her letters, she would tell him this and that.

How foolish of her.

You could only understand her way of thinking and feelings if you had ever learned how close she felt to him. Why shouldn't she? She kept remembering the look in his eyes when he came back to say that "nada mudo". She knew what he meant, because she felt the same way. That day she had cried like she was crying now, but without the unbearable pain.

She was so sad to see that now, he would not want to talk to her. In fact he had ignored the letter that, this time she was certain he had received.

How foolish of her.

She was also very embarrassed to have made a fool of herself in such a way.

But mainly, her heart had been shattered by the realisation that she meant nothing to the man she had given a part of her heart from the very first time.

She was so sad to see that he would not even give her the opportunity to say thank you for the love he gave her once, a long time ago.

Through their time apart, he had become her dearest friend, while the memory of her had faded away and it was now, nothing but some sort of very scary and shameful dream for him.

She had always thought so highly of him…Didn't she deserve the minimum gesture of courtesy.

She was so sad, she was so stupid…..
