OTP production of "Hair" opened on October 27th, 1984 to rave reviews from local theatre critic Joe Rice. He stated that it was "A Diamond in the Rough".

He also went on to say:
Andy Roberts - "Strong and expressive."
Mark Williams - "Effective as a true free spirit."
Margo and Corrine - "Both displayed excellent singing voices and considerable acting talent."
Rick Hieftje and Tom McCarter - "May have had minor roles, but when they were in action, folks paid attention."
Betty Ponder and Sandra Lynn Chambers - "Both turned in some moments of marvelous entertainment. It was pleasant to suddenly see someone besides the leads come forth and knock out a great song or a group of lines."

Louan Lechler set design was a marvel and loaded with surprises. The costumes were equally inventive.

From beginning to end, there was the sense that a successful musical was in the offing.
