ABOUT ME

Me & Edi

Being the self-centred... err... woman... that I am, I had to add something about me as well.

I was born in 1983 in a small town in the north of Sweden - almost as far north as you can get. Horses were an early interest of mine, mostly thanks to my mother and my aunts who all had been riding. Unfortunately it turned out that I'm quite allergic to them - not that it hinders me all too much. My philosophy of life is that you can do whatever you want to, as long as you pay for it. So, despite allergy and the whole thing, I continued to be around horses as much as possible and when I was older I dragged my mother (and brother) to horse shows.

Quite early on I fell in love with the Arabian Horse. My first love was Aladdinn (Nureddin-Lalage). I saw him in one of my mother's old horse magazine, and then I knew - this was how a horse was supposed to look like!

That was years and years and years ago. I joined the Swedish Arabian Horse Society in 1996 and I've been a member since.

So years went by, fast now when I think about it, and I collected pedigrees, pictures, magazines, books... Everything I could find and get my greedy little paws on. I went to a couple of shows as well, the first one in 1998, the second in 2000 and the last one in 2002. I haven't had the opportunity these last years, but hopefully that'll change soon.

Drawing has always been an interest of mine, and combined with horses it's turned out to be, well... disastrous. I can't draw anything else to save my life nowadays - not that it keeps me from trying. When I was younger I spent whole nights during the summer holidays drawing, drawing, drawing... Everything ended up with my mom, whom I think still have a lot of it, and some of it has found its way online too.

Photography didn't find its way in to my life until later, but when it did I fell fast and hard. I took a photo class my last year in school which I regret now that I didn't work more in, but live and learn I guess. Last year I ended up in an "art school" of sorts and we had a photo course there which I enjoyed very much.

It was also during art school that I met my girlfriend and thanks to her, I somehow found myself moved from boring Sweden to more exciting Switzerland - although she keeps telling me that we'll go back to Sweden soon. I'm not so sure about that, but time will tell.

It's also thanks to her that I've finally begun riding. After 21 years of not being able to, I feel like I've got a lot to catch up with now. The horse is Edini Stumbledore, the Impish Droolinator. Or just Edi-mausi for those who know him better than I do. He's 19 years old this year, but he acts like he's still three. He's also the perfect beginner's horse - you get to know all the dirty tricks and learn how to counter them.

I'll never be able to ride and take lessons, but every weekend when we take a round in the forest I'm the happiest girl in the world.

Right now I don't really know what to do with my life. I live pay check by pay check, so to speak. I work as a cleaning woman and that's quite a nice job and I don't want to go back to school right away, but I guess that I will sooner or later. The dream would be to be able to live off something that I love, whether it is photography or drawing.
