Come join us at our next meeting when our featured speaker will be Ray Carson, author, professional photographer and professional hand colorist.

He is presently the chief staff photographer for News and Public Affairs at the University of Florida, as well as a freelance wedding, commercial and editorial photographer. His photographs have appeared in numerous regional and national magazines as well as over 50 newspapers and with the Associated Press. In addition to his commercial and editorial work, he also specializes in photography of historical sites and reenactments in the United States.


The Fall Edition 2003 of “Gallery Under the Oaks” will be held September 20 & 21st 10 AM to 5PM each day, by the Gazebo in downtown Micanopy. We look forward to an exciting show with over 30 new and regular members, along with the junior artists, participating.

The artists showing are: Sarah Davis, Beatriz DeAnda, Lelia Dylla, Casey Forman, Michael Haehn, Dalyn Jones, Jewel Jones, Jason Jones, Michael and Caroline Lesousky, Ellie Rankeillor, Glen Robinson, Alison and Brooke Shutterly, Darby Slater, Robin Waters, and Sara Waters. These are just the up and coming junior artists. Let’s do all we can to help these kids get out in the art world.

On the other side of the age bracket we have: Linda Barrett, Betty Blitch, Tom Brady, Amanda Brantly, Rick Cain, Peter Carolin, Mablin Castellanos, Dana Cavallero, Chuck Chapin, Rose Coupure, Melody Foreman, Marianne Gamble, Reisa George, Kat Harris, Garnette Hathaway, Janet Jones, Ernest Kallenbach, Alana Kolifrath, Janet Porcelli, Sue Smith, Rudy Strohschein, Susan Torgerson, Hope White, Martha Banting, John Chambers, Jacki Collis, Steve Bradbury and Barbara Haskell, Lennie Kesl, Annabelle and Nancy Leitner, Judy Linberg, Howard Seitz, Vandi Sumini, and Ann Tumarken.

Meetings are held at 7:00 PM on the second Monday of the month at the Herlong Mansion Conference Room in Micanopy, FL.

Recent Events

Our Spring Mini Show was held April 19th and 20th, 2003,by the gazebo in downtown Micanopy, Florida. Many local artists were involved, and the event was well attended. The show was sponsored in part by the Town of Micanopy.

MCCA member Jean Tyson was involved in the PBS documentary "The Highwaymen: Florida's Outsider Artists",which was produced by Jack Hambrick and narrated by Spencer Christian. It will air in the Gainesville, Florida area March 18 and 23, 2003 at 8PM and on March 23, 2003 at 5PM.
