Examples of
the types of classes we will offer are as follows:
Introduction to
Art: The
Levashov's Design Group will offer a series of art courses meant to
teach students how to use basic tools such as pencil and eraser to
make sketches and single line drawings. The first quarter of the
academic year focuses on an introduction to basics of art. The second
quarter consists of introduction to advanced level of pencil sketches.
The third and the fourth courses will focus on complex sketches of
subjects like the human face or a table setting. These students will
learn several techniques they can use in their designs.
Water Color:
This will be advanced level class for students who have completed the
Introduction to Art class. In this class, students will learn
different techniques to produce designs using water-based colors. This
class will start with the description of each technique and methods to
represent the idea. The second and third quarters will be devoted to
learning the basics of watercolor techniques. In the fourth quarter,
students will be given their chance to explore their imagination and
introduce it to audience in any water color technique they want.
Oil Paintings:
This will be the last class that student can take to advance their
knowledge and their skills as artists. Since this way of representing
design is the most popular and encompasses hundred of years of
evolution, there are thousands variations in techniques, ways to
represent the idea, and styles of "brush". However, the most
common styles like Impressionism or Naturalism will be
introduced to the students.
Multimedia
Production: This
will be an optional class that students can take to improve their
abilities to design. Multimedia techniques are useful tools. Many
Artists use them to enhance their abilities and save time in
organizing ideas. They will get hands-on experience using 3D graphics
software to create scenes and objects. They will also learn to
use digital video editing software, Adobe Premiere, to shoot and
digitize video, edit their videos and import graphics. Additionally,
they will be trained to use graphics-editing software like Adobe
Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Our training consists of small
projects to help them become familiar with the applications. Our
students will work on portfolios to document of their work.
E. Project
Evaluation
While the content
varies from class to class, we will measure our success in achieving
the programs' goals in the following ways:
By keeping
attendance sheets for all classes:
Attendance sheets will be compiled into weekly program reports.
By keeping class
journals for all classes:
Journals will be written by the instructor for each class. In
addition, journals will be posted on the Internet, where they can be
reviewed by staff, parents and founders.
By keeping a
portfolio for each class:
We will maintain an art portfolio for each class, which includes
finished products as well as other work generated during each class.
By conducting
quizzes.
Students will be tested on basic class competencies. However, no marks
or units will be given for the test. Students will be given advice of
what they should concentrate on in their future development as
artists.
