Kuchi CollarsUnusual and exotic custom made dog collars, designed to fit most of the medium sized sighthounds (not to mention lots of non-sighthound breeds as well). They are intended to be worn for exhibition only - native costume class, parade of veterans, parade of champions, pet faires and expos, etc. Due to the fancy nature of these collars, they are not intended to be worn while the dog is unsupervised.The kuchi choker necklaces the collars are made from has been specially refurbished - all the original (2nd rate/broken) glass and/or plastic has been replaced with new glass custom cut to fit the bezel. The metal has been carefully cleaned and polished. Pieces obtained with lapis inlay are carefully refurbished so the lapis inlay remains. A minimum of 20 hours of hand-craft labor goes into each piece. Each collar is a one of a kind original. The tribal jewelry pieces are becoming more difficult to obtain due to the unrest in that part of the world. Our kuchi collars are ** always ** mounted on a collar base, in the interest of the comfort and safety of the dog. We know from wearing these pieces in native costume that without a lining these pieces will pinch skin (and pull/cut neck fur) - which your dog won't be thanking you for if you put an unmounted kuchi piece on your dog. Also, the original pieces are not designed to take the stress of a lunging dog and can break - don't take a chance on an accident waiting to happen by relying on an unmounted jewelry piece as a control collar. All of Kate's collars come with lifetime repair service (Kate's lifetime) - if a dangle comes off, stone or glass get damaged, or linkages get tweaked - bring the piece back and Kate will repair it for free. |

Mosaic Paver Stepping StonesAll original designs created by Kate. These pavers are cast in commercial grade cement/concrete, have been stained with commercial grade concrete stain, and sealed with commercial grade concrete sealer. That said, if your use of your paver is to use it outdoors, we recommend resealing it every 6 months - if moisture gets under the glass and freezes, it can lift the glass out of the concrete. We have not personally experienced this with out pieces, but our local stained-glass supplier has so we pass on that caveat.These pieces can also be put on a lazy susan base and used as a large trivet or coaster - sweating drinks can't hurt concrete. Or put them in a large plate easel for display as an art piece. Sure, there are other artisans who make saluki mosaic pavers - but they do not work in the small, detail, finished pieces that these pavers are made from. Each piece of glass is hand-cut and polished with a glass grinder. Note the tiny pieces in the eyes, nose, and ear detail - very few artisans work in mosaic glass pieces this small. |
