JAMES ANTHONY LANG

1960-2003

Jim Lang was a co-creator and promoter of the Kitsap Community Music Awards.  He was a long time Kitsap resident who graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1978 and attended Olympic College in Bremerton.  In 1979, Jim was severely injured in an auto accident that left him a paraplegic.  Although physically disabled, his drive for achievement, respect for his friends and love of music was always rock steady.

The ÒJim LangÓ Award was created to recognize an individual in the music community whose spirit, contributions or effort transcend the norm.  The behind the scenes activity or the selfless attention given by an exceptional individual is often taken for granted.  Without these very special people, the impact in the musical community would most certainly be felt.

Anybody can be nominated.  Selection is made by an independent panel of community officials and is KCMAÕs highest honor.
