Jenny Merriman

Hello! Welcome to my site. I am an artist who enjoys all artistic pursuits. I started as young as I can remember. My early work was mostly in pencil, then I did a lot of pieces mixing color pencil and chalk, now I am in love with painting. I enjoy bright colors and nature. I feel my style is a mix of reality and fantasy.

I'll paint anything wood, metal, but my favorite is my canvases. I  paint on walls and have a passion for taking old furniture and other pieces and making it new again with some elbow grease and paint.

Since about 1989 I have worked as an artist under the name Jen-e. The last few years in the Eugene area I have had two shows in the First Friday Artwalk and have worked as an independent contractor. I have taught one one one furniture painting classes, painted old furniture, new cabinets, trim, doors, mirrors and worked with the Home ReDesign Studio.

I also have been a vender at various craft shows and flea markets selling small painted birdhouses and boxes, homemade soaps, salts and jewelry.

I also have a love of gardening. Herbs are my favorite, lavender being on the top of the list. I started making my own soaps a few years ago for members of my family that have very sensitive skin.  I have learned that herbs and the essential oils they produce have a lot of healing properties that go beyond skin care.

I am currently a student a Lane Community College majoring in E-business. My ultimate goal is to merge my love of art and natural products and healing with my skills in business and computers.

Protector 2003

This first painting is one that I did while I had a vision problem with my right eye. My eye was blurry and I had a  migraine for days. I found relief in painting. I believe gargoyles are protectors so I positioned him hovering over the right eye. He also resembles  something menacing signifying the migraine. and the flowers are the relief I hoped would come.

This clock was lime green and peach and pretty beat up. After sanding and some paint, here it is!

The TreeMan. I was reading a book about the Druids. They believe the Oak tree is sacred and the highest Druids wear white. This is my scene of a druid just leaving after talking to the old oak. there is a small rock in front of the treeman where he had been sitting.

I have a love of roses and butterflies. I originally was a color pencil artist and have only started painted canvases a few years ago. I had fun with color and the fan brush with this one.

This is my laundry room! It's an example of how paint is an easy way to liven up anything!
