Ezines
Mood:  chillin'
Now Playing: What are ezines all about?
Topic: EZINES
The purpose of an ezine is to help you advertise...that is if your the author of the ezine. Now don't get me wrong, because they do a good job of presenting advertising in a way that will catch your eye. But how many ezines cater to crafters? Very few. Why? Again, it's a matter of who will read the advertising. Yes if you have a site that might help someone learn how to do something and offer tips and advice, we can all benefit. But if your out to sell your wares (craft items, that is) most people reading the ezines aren't interested. Why are they there? They're mostly busy promoting their latest MLM or book on how you can get rich if you buy into their hype! Sorry if I step on a few toes here, but remember, this is only one person's OPINION, so don't get too aggrevated. I just plan on calling them as I see them, so to speak. And that's my whole purpose behind writing this blog, to share my experiences. Maybe some of them seem a little discouraging, but sometimes you have to go through a little discouragement to find out what works for you. And that doesn't mean it might not work for someone else. There, have I redeemed myself sufficiently?

Anyway, I do, from time to time enjoy looking over an ezine. If for no other reason than to see what people are up to, and to look to see if there might be some new marketing idea, or something else I might learn from them. From time to time, there is something of interest, but do I shop there for crafts? Not really. But they can be informative and helpful at times, and keep you up to date on business trends, so if you want, go ahead and subscribe to a few. If nothing else they can be somewhat entertaining. They run contests and you can even win top spot advertising. Then you get to see your own ad in a prominent position. Be careful though. Don't let it keep you from crafting and doing things you really enjoy. Always keep in mind though, who's really reading this besides peope like yourself? And how much are you buying?

On the other hand, if there's someone out there who enjoys crafts and their craft is writing, a really good ezine for crafters might be an opportunity. But you would somehow have to link its appeal to the general public, and shoppers, and for that, I would have to leave it up to you to figure out. One word of warning, though, it is an awful lot of work and can get complicated working with the transponders (those nifty little devices that submit automatic responses), but there are courses you can take over the internet for that as well. Let me know if you do, I'd love to subscribe, especially if it caters to the polymer clay/jewelry arts and crafts.
