-- From Jacob (July 11th) --

Welcome first-time and returning visitors! Now that I've lost most of the returning fans, I'm finally updating. So much has happened...let's fill you all in right quickly. My aunt died at the end of Spring Break [March 27th], I lost my digital camera April 24th, and began my first fashion class at SCAD which kept me very busy. The combination of these events (and I bit more that I don't need to bother you with) has left me with NO new pictures to show you at this moment in time (but rest assured many many pictures ready to be scanned in at dad's), and a very long overdue update, for which I sincerely apologize.

I've put up teasers for the Katherine Rugburn collection, also known as my final project for Intro to Fashion. I learned a lot in that class, not the least of which is a concept paragraph, which has the theme behind a collection neatly summed up in a few sentences along with a catchy title...you'll be getting those now with each new collection. The collections themselves will feature illustrations and every now and then these things called flats which are very technical drawings of the seams etc. of a garment. If I have a sketch of something shifty or just feel in the mood to be very technical, I'll provide you all with flats to further your understanding of a design. Also, we learned about mood boards, which are a collection of the inspirations and other things that go into the development of a collection. I might give you all little graphical mood boards to accompany some collections in the future, if not pictures of actual mood boards.

Next up on the update list, A LOT, including the final project collection, which is a punk reworking of the classic menswear-inspired looks championed by one miss Katherine Hepburn. Preview: orange plaid and cutting-edge finishes on button-down shirts, pencil skirts, and other 'classic' shapes. After that will be the collection I'm working on right now, which is inspired at least in part by Country singer Patsy Cline, mostly her songs. Depending how much I get out of my themes, I may stretch this into a few more cohesive collections. So far: "South of the Border" and "San Antone Rose", which have led to a mexican-esque lineup with tropical-colored eyelet jackets, tops, and dresses, along with spliced skirts and dresses with tiered florals, bandana prints, lace, and other bright fabrics. Also out are some adorable spurred maryjanes.

Please leave me a comment on the tagboard on the intro page, and please leave an Email with it so I can contact you (or don't leave an Email, whatever).

COLLECTIONS! (usually in color) ... ... Portfolio (carefully chosen pieces) ... ... All Other Pencil Sketches

What are all of these sections?

You can view my COLLECTIONS! These are usually going to be in color,
and categorized by collection...you'll see. Try not to be too harsh, please;
these are my first real workings with color (colored pencil),
and my first real drawings of a series of designs,
and I'm actually pretty proud of them so far.

OR you can view my portfolio, a carefully chosen selection of my pieces,
hand-picked and carefully edited to give a general idea of my range of styles
and artistic/design ability.

OR you can view my pencil sketches, which is pretty much when I jot down
an idea. Some of them will also be found in the collection section,
but for the most part they aren't done in series. They are
in shades of grey, graphite being my usual preferred medium.
I do love my mechanical pencils.
