Basic Horsemanship Lessons

My Horsemanship program is designed to help each student develop a confidant relationship with horses,  becoming more safety conscious and familiar with all aspects of basic horsemanship. To accomplish this goal I will teach the basic skills required in General Equine care, western riding and Natural Horsemanship!

 

With my horsemanship course, the goal is to be able to:

Identify:

  • The parts of a Saddle, both western and English styles

  • The parts of a Bridle and different bits

    •

  • The parts of a Horse  points of the horse, skeletal  anatomy and superficial external muscles.

  • Basic tools and aids

    •

  • Basic grooming equipment used on a horse

  • The basic horse colors

 Demonstrate:

The proper way to approach a horse

Haltering a horse

The correct way to lead a horse

How to groom the mane, tail and coat. and tack up

How to pick up and clean hooves

Mounting techniques

Dismounting techniques

Riding a horse at a walk

Halting a horse

Riding a figure 8

Properly cleaning and preparing a stall

Unhaltering a horse

 

~~~A Few Requirements~~~
  1. All students must sign a Liability Waver, If student is under 18 years of age, a parent/guardian must sign also.
  2. If under 18 years of age a protective helmet must be worn.
  3. Minimum of 5 years of age for lessons
