Give me a hurdle, I will jump over it, but put an unseen hurdle in my path, and I know not were it is, and I will stumble and fall. Give me a wall, I will climb it, but put an unseen wall in my path, and I can not see it, I will walk into it and search for a way around it. Give me a rope to climb, and I shall climb it, but put a rope in my path that I can not see, and I will grasp at air trying to find it. Give me a river and I will swim it, but put a river in my path that I can not see, and I will fall in, tumbling in the current not knowing where the banks are to climb out, and eventually will drown. Put me in a room with a light and I can find a place to rest. But put me in a room without light, I am afraid to move to the left or the right, for fear of running into what I can not see. Life is filled with many obstacles foreseen and unforeseen. That which we can see we can over come and battle easily. But that which we can not see, takes a time and patience to over come. For some problems and battles are easily won and over come. For others, battles can be hard and long. When it comes to battles of the heart, they are fought on a much higher plain that has no boundaries or limitations, and the rules can be complicated and may not always seem fair. For some, these battles are lost quickly as they are afraid to fight for what they believe in or what is right, and they give up quickly. For some these battles are won quickly, because they move swiftly and attack what they can not see with an unseen vengeance. And for the rest of us, these battles are long and weary. As soon as we over come one unseen obstacle it seems another hidden obstacle is there in our path. Blocking the way to our goal, our love, our heart, our soul that lies in wait at the end, just waiting to be taken, held and cherished. We all fight or run from these battles of the heart in life. For those that choose to quit, your life is filled with doubt, you wonder what if you had stayed and stood your ground, what if you tried to over come the obstacles put in your path. What if the person on the other end was willing to fight to get to you? You will always wonder what if. For those of you that win your battles quickly, you stood your ground, you fought and won. The one you sought to hold and keep close to you, was fighting just as hard on the other end to get to you. And your obstacles are easily overcome. For the rest of us that fight our battle find that the playing field is not always level, and we fight and uphill battle, while the one we love is on the higher end of the field, throwing just as many obstacles in our path as what we already on the field to over come. We work harder to reach our goal, we invest more of our time and our lives to finally reach that which we seek to obtain and hold. We fight without resting, we climb without stopping. When we feel that we have nothing left to give, we always find a way to give more. When we find we have no strength left, we find we have more strength than we know. When we find we have no more love to share, we find more love deep down in an untapped well. For us it is a battle that is long and hard and full of sacrifices. Our armor and sword that we use to fight is made up of unconditional love. And we give our all; we will sacrifice our all, in hopes that one day our dream will finally come true. We don’t give up or walk away for we see ahead to the time when the battle is finally over and are able to hold that which is dear to us, and knowing that the simplest I love you in the end made the battle worth it all. ---Tatty--- |
