Who is Out There?
by
Stephen Paul Coffey

There is this type of call
That comes to me in the dead of night
A call that makes the mind go into overdrive
And then when I look for proof there is none
So then I go through that pain again
Pain you feel when you lose a loved one
But this is strange as the call is someone
Yet there is no being alive
That can send such a powerful message
Can it be a voice from my pasts grave
Is it the voice of my fictitious present
Or it can be the future in small previews.

I just need to know the truth
No matter how much it hurts
It can't be worse that what I'm going through
Because I have had enough of the heartache and pain
That always arrives in the late stages of love
But at least with this kind of love
You still have that person to talk to
There is nothing left but fresh insanity
Nobody to take a hold of, nobody to share
This is the only problem with the invasion
That the loss at dawn always seems unkind

Who can it be, who is out there?
Controlling every aspect of my life from afar
If I have to go to the moon and back to find them
Then the journey will not amount to the pain of uncertainty
Who in this world wants someone to love so bad
Enough to invade the soul of this troubled life
The line is so thin between reality and bizarre
That you'll never know what you are who you are
Maybe this is the person who is only meant for me
Maybe another who wants to hurt me
I listen to the call for help from this maiden in distance
It could be a plot from the deadly siren.

Who is this person who is out there?
Is it someone close or someone near
Can it truly be that this is not a dream
One of my many never to be fantastic ideals
Is this person inside or outside
Which one should I fear the most
The soul inside me is a dangerous ghost
The world outside can take you to the limits
Keeping the voice in my head makes sense
At least then I still have someone to talk to
But in case of evil I shall keep some defence.
