Crosses and Diamonds
by
Stephen Paul Coffey

Two lovers, one pact
True love in its final act
Not allowed to share together
The rest of their lives together
So with sharp diamonds it ends
To their family they send
A message of doom and despair
Of pain that they couldn't bear
Now a stony cross lies on a road
And on their families a heavy load
As their narrow minded bigoted claims
Have brought upon them eternal shame
Because of a love that seemed right
But wrong over feudal family fight
So now they lie in unmarked tombs
Because their suicide pact still looms.
